Konami already revealed that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots runs at an immaculate 60 FPS in its upcoming Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2. However, it’s now confirmed the frame rates and resolution for it and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker across all platforms.
PS5, Xbox Series X and PC are the obvious winners with up to 4K internal resolutions that output at 3840×2160. While they can also achieve 60 frames per second, Konami notes that this is the highest “variable” frame rate achievable (potentially indicating no unlocked option on PC). It also states that “large amounts of effects” could result in frame drops, both in gameplay and cutscenes.
But what’s especially interesting are the modes available for Peace Walker. You can play in the original resolution with no upscaling or enable High Resolution Mode. The latter also affects the cutscenes, which look absolutely stunning, but Konami notes that their release date has yet to be finalized. They could very well end up skipping launch, so stay tuned for updates.
Check out the resolution and frame rates for other platforms, including Nintendo Switch 1 and 2, below. Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 launches on August 27th – head here for more extensive gameplay.
