Lost Soul Aside Developer Discusses Boss Fight Design, Environment Variety, and More in New Video

Lost Soul Aside launches in a few days, and to say that it’s been a long journey for creator Yang Bing would be an understatement. In a new behind-the-scenes video, Bing discusses posting the first trailer, receiving an invitation from Sony and how it ultimately grew from a one-person project.

Of course, it also briefly discusses the action, weapon types, elements, music and the bosses. The philosophy behind the latter was to create “as diverse a range of form as possible,” from agile types to those focused on power; some smaller and others larger to promote “fresh and different experiences” throughout.

This also applies to the range of locations – each with different styles, wonders and weather conditions. Amid all this, Bing and Ultizero hope that the experience “satisfies players, making them feel that the many years of waiting were worthwhile.”

Interestingly, Bao Bao, game production director for SIE Shanghai, notes that Bing influenced many new teams for the China Hero Project, and that he has “actually driven part of China’s game development and the growth of the industry.” With Daba: Land of Water Scar, The Winds Rising and many other notable projects in the works, you have to wonder how big an impact Lost Soul Aside could have beyond its own success.

Lost Soul Aside launches on August 29th for PS5 and PC. Head here for more details on PC features or learn about the various PS5 Pro enhancements.
